Dark Northumbrian
This labour of love by Steve Malley, also performing as The Horse Loom at Supernormal 2014, was born when he had the idea of reinventing traditional Northumbrian folk songs with some of his friends. Perhaps to his surprise, they were all game, and with a revolving cast of characters including such venerable spirits as Alasdair Roberts, Mary Hampton and Cath & Phil Tyler (amongst others) on board, they soon set about summoning up the earthy allure and strange intensity of an oft unheralded repertoire, rendering them anew in the here and now in a manner that unites echoes of the past with dreams of the future.
