Her Noise
Her Noise is a resource of collected materials investigating music and sound histories in relation to gender bringing together a wide network of women artists who use sound as a medium to investigate social relations, inspire action or uncover hidden soundscapes. Since its inception in 2001 and relating Electra exhibition in 2004, Her Noise has become an on-going archive to generate discussion and discourse about women in experimental music and sound art. Events relating to the archive have included most recently ‘Feminisms and the Sonic Symposium’ and ‘Sound::Gender::Feminism::Activism’ at the Tate Modern in 2012. We will be screening ‘The Making Of Her Noise’ film at Supernormal as synonymous with the female artists working with sound as part of the wider arts programme.
Her Noise will also present a DJ set. Here they will investigate music and sound histories in relation to gender bringing together a wide network of women artists who use sound as a medium.
