Can individuality exist in an increasingly uniform society? Do these individual voices want to declare their difference or do they want to be heard
and accepted?
Combining foreign sound, military style speakers and the aesthetic of the campsite, Hughes investigates a loose visual link between music festivals, family campsites, refugee sites, concentration camps and activist spaces. What connection will the listener make? Does it lean towards a French family camping holiday, or provide a reminder of the recent occupation camp within the grounds of St Paul’s? Or does it conjure up something more sinister?
