Oo Mysteroons
Initially set up by Robert Perry and Samuel Playford-Greenwell in June 2011 under the pseudonym of The Mysteroons. Backsideblackhole was a project space run in conjunction with The Motorcycle Showroom, an artist-run gallery and studio space situated in Stokes Croft, Bristol.
Oo first project ran from September to December 2011, in which oo commissioned artists to sequentially turn the project space from a white cube to a black space. Oo then engaged this space as a lightless black box for experimenting with frugal perceptual experiences through the relationship between objects, sound and light, over a series of seven solo exhibitions under the collective heading The Prisooner’s Lightship.
For Supernormal Festival this year, oo will present 2 projects. The first will explore analogue relationships of sound in live sculptural objects in Poolyphoonus Poolyphoony, the second will re-analyse visual-auditory documentation of the artworks from the first part as material for digital production, from the initial cacophony oo will produce a pop music video, entitled Proocessed Poop.
