Society is Possible
SIP is an improvised audiovisual performance and collaboration between the group Things Make Electric and visual artist Chameleonic. In his writing about the power of festival, Attali says ‘Music affirms that society is possible’ and in this way, SIP is a celebration of the power of improvisation as a force to take both musicians and audience outside the confines of measured time. Drawing inspiration from Jacques Attali who said that ‘the only worthwhile researchers are undisciplined ones’ and from interdisciplinary work by the likes of Black Mountain experimentalists Cage and Cunningham, SIP aims to involve the audience in a multi sensory experience, where sound, images and light create sensations that are greater than the sum of their parts.
