Cool Diabang
With echoes of John Latham who built his first Skoob Tower here at Braziers in 1964, Senegalese artist Cool Diabang will present ‘Voicelessness’ an interactive performance. Old books and magazines, ripped and piled up will form an installation where the public are invited to join in a collective reading (either aloud or in silence) of texts at random or chosen by the viewer. Notes from a new ‘Erewhon’.
Mister Cool’s work is that of an authentic artist – an authentic human – free-thinking, free-acting. He explores the world, worlds, even – the mystical, imaginary, and real worlds – and the inhabitants he finds there. In which ever medium he uses it is life he brings back to us and the beat of its heart is visible even withtin the stillness of the final canvas.
