Designer Wanted for Supernormal 2013

Supernormal needs a new look. The existing “branding” was produced before the first festival took place. It was produced before anyone really knew what the festival was, or would become. Since that time, the original aesthetic has been chopped and changed to various degrees by a shuffling roster of Supernormal caretakers.

In 2012, Supernormal sold out for the first time and came into its own, feeling like a cohesive event. We’re now looking for a new aesthetic to reflect the true spirit and identity of the festival.

We are looking for an artist/designer who can draw from Supernormal’s identity and ethos to assist in giving us a ‘new look’. Supernormal is organised by small and entirely unpaid group of artists and organisers, so this is an unpaid assignment for someone to join our friendly team and to be involved in Supernormal’s further evolution. We can offer expenses, tickets and promotion.

You would have available time and ability to work to deadlines inline with our marketing schedule for 2013 as well as working with our web & online developer when required.

To Apply:

Send e-mail to [email protected] with :

  • Why you are interested in this role and a bit about yourself.
  • Images & ideas for logo and brand guidelines (this can be in the form of rough sketches, plans or ideas)
  • Website/ links to example work.

Deadline: 30th November (but the sooner, the better).

If you have any questions please email: [email protected]

Guidelines/What we need:

A New Logo

  • We’re not married to the triangle, but wouldn’t object to it being include as a nod to our origins.
  • We’re pretty sure that we want the font (underlined) to remain, but are open to new ideas if they are strong enough.

Brand Guidelines

That will be cohesively applied to all our promotional material (website, emails, facebook, magazine advertising, flyers, merchandise, brochure etc). This will include:

  • Colour scheme
  • Background
  • Borders
  • Imagery
  • Fonts

Website

The website is the most important marketing tool, so it is crucial it looks great as well as functioning well. It would be worth considering the following when thinking about overall design:

  • News/blog page
  • Various info pages
  • Lineup/programme page

We want to use the following system to display entries in the programme – when clicked blocks will expand to show information about the act/performance (but they can be styled in any way).

The website as it stands with the info it will continue to contain can be seen here: www.supernormalfestival.co.uk
